Who We Are

Design has always made me curious. I often wondered why I felt more joyful in one space versus another. As I became more introspective about these "why's" I started to see it--the colors, the textures, and the lighting.

Years ago, I was in a children's hospital that felt unlike any other hospital (in a good way) because of the lighting. Initially I couldn't pinpoint why until someone shared that they installed custom lighting to emulate natural lighting. What a simple, yet impactful choice! As I continued my work in healthcare, I often thought about how certain colors might affect to someone who didn't feel well, or how bright, fluorescent lights were the furthest thing from calming for a tearful child.

 

My curiosity took me away from pediatric healthcare into a program at the New York School of Interior Design where I was able to delve into the impact of color, texture, and light. I am constantly changing my own home depending on the feel of a room, not based on trends. Awareness of trends absolutely helps guide certain decisions, but it's most important to me that your home reflects who you are and how you want to feel when you walk in a room.
